After much pondering and a bit of support and encouragement from my mum I made a once in a lifetime investment in a grain mill with combined flaker for porridge and muesli. This thing is a heavy beast but rather beautifully made. I am expecting a steep learning curve as I get deeper into baking and generally grinding and squashing seeds, beans and stuff. via Instagram https://ift.tt/2uDZ6SC

The pre-hustle bustle

I’ve been lax in the hustle of writing and video making and sending the emails needed to sell places on the Permaculture Women’s Guild Permaculture Design Course and you know, earn a yield. You know what? I’m not rushed. This is a project which will endure and get better and better and yield long into the future.

I’ve been preparing a supporting handout on working with sun angles and solar sectors. Explaining this in person is fine, but putting it down on paper is another educational process entirely.  I am pretty sure that one of the main reasons I love teaching is that I learn more deeply every time.

Instead of marketing and spruiking I’ve been helping Heather Jo Flores and other wonderful women as we polish modules, take some final photos, prepare handouts, proofread and clarify and generally make sure that this collaboritive online experience is an integrated and functioning whole. I’m getting sneak peaks of the completed and uploaded modules and DAMN this is good. We really are working to make a quality permaculture learning experience that works with the limitations and benefits of the online context.

Whether you’ve studying permaculture for the first time or wanting to deepen your existing knowledge this is going to be an excellent experience.

Right, I’d better get back to that eagle eyed proofreading so that I can go through and study the whole PDC with the eager mind and heart of a student.

The snow came back today but yesterday some lovely friends and I went gathering the first bärlauch of the season. Tonight I’m making bärlauch semmelknödel (wild garlic bread dumplings) with this harvest! My harvest /produce bag was remade out of a weird thrifted net tshirt with recycled cord from a giftbag.

I suffer from huge waves of self doubt and depression which result in total lethargy and inertia. I blame my hormones, living in an apartment, streaming tv services, the patriarchy and capitalism too. I know that doing yoga, eating breakfast, saying affirmations and going outside to talk to people and being in nature helps, but you know INERTIA MAKES ALL THE THINGS HARDER and the self doubt helps me tell myself that those things suck or are lame or won’t work out anyway. Which is f&£%*d. Still I am proud to say that these yoga mats and bolsters were put into use today and I yelled and fell over and cried about how sad I feel but hey at least I did yoga imperfectly and appreciated the ritual of putting mats and bolsters away. Also I did laundry and changed the sheets but still have all the work. #dayoneofyogaagain #newmoon via Instagram http://ift.tt/2HGXwRz

I’m not sure if Seagull the Cat got the memo about doing computer dismantling in a clean environment. I managed to get the battery out and tighten the blasted wireless card and rescrew it back together without him noticing the bowls of tiny screws. Bonus, my laptop properly starts again now!

Normally there’s one failed crepe at the beginning of the batch, but I lost about three more before I realised that I needed to add another egg to the mix. The irony is that I’m using “waste” sourdough starter for things like crepes now so even though I saved the starter from a useless end, a version of it still ended up going in the compost bin. #latelunch #sourdoughcrepes #springsunshine #producenowaste #sourdough via Instagram http://ift.tt/2pdziqX

I got trapped at my desk helping out on the online permaculture design course so I put on lipstick to power myself up. Seagull the Cat came along to steal cuddles and share warmth so I nibbled him on the ear. Thanks for the lipstick inspiration @clementine_ford!
